When you use Snakkn, we may collect the following data:

Account data: Email address and display name when you register — legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance)
Content data: Recipes, photos, and other content you create — legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance)
Usage data: Anonymous analytics data to improve the app — legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in improving the service)
Device data: Device type, operating system, and app version — legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest)

3. How we use your data

Providing and improving the Snakkn service
Enabling social features (groups, shared cookbooks)
Sending important service notifications
Analyzing usage patterns to improve the app

4. Third-party services and international data transfers

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google LLC, USA): Authentication, database, cloud storage, analytics — transfer basis: EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF)
Google Gemini API (Google LLC, USA): AI-powered recipe scanning (image recognition), meal plan generation, recipe creation, and recipe translation — transfer basis: EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF)
Groq Inc. (USA): Fallback AI service using Meta Llama models, for the same features as above — transfer basis: Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC)

When you use AI features (e.g. recipe scanner, meal planner), your input data (text, images) is sent to these services for processing. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance — the AI features are core functionality of the app).

5. Analytics and opt-out

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics. IP addresses are anonymized. You can disable analytics in the app settings at any time.

6. Data retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. After account deletion, your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where longer retention is required by law. Analytics data is retained in anonymized form.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
