2. What data we collect and legal basis

When you use Snakkn, we may collect the following data:

Account data: Email address and display name when you register — legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance)
Content data: Recipes, photos, and other content you create — legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance)
Usage data: Anonymous analytics data to improve the app — legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in improving the service)
Device data: Device type, operating system, and app version — legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest)

Guest mode: As long as you use the app without an account, your recipes and settings are stored exclusively on your device. Data is only stored on our servers once you create an account. The services listed in sections 4 and 5 (e.g. AI features, advertising, analytics) may also be used in guest mode when you use the respective feature.

4. Third-party services and international data transfers

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google LLC, USA): Authentication, database, cloud storage, analytics — transfer basis: EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF)
Google Gemini API (Google LLC, USA): AI-powered recipe scanning (image recognition), meal plan generation, recipe creation, and recipe translation — transfer basis: EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF)
Groq Inc. (USA): Fallback AI service using Meta Llama models, for the same features as above — transfer basis: Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC)
RevenueCat, Inc. (USA): Subscription management (Snakkn Pro) — processes a pseudonymous app user ID as well as purchase receipts and subscription status from the app store; legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance) — transfer basis: EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) or Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC)
Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited, Ireland; Google LLC, USA): Displaying ads in the app — processes your device's advertising ID, device and usage data, and your IP address; personalized ads only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG), which you can withdraw at any time; without consent, non-personalized ads are shown — transfer basis: EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF)

When you use AI features (e.g. recipe scanner, meal planner), your input data (text, images) is sent to these services for processing. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance — the AI features are core functionality of the app).

5. Analytics and opt-out

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics. IP addresses are anonymized. You can disable analytics in the app settings at any time.

6. Data retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time directly in the app. After account deletion, your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where longer retention is required by law. Analytics data is retained in anonymized form.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

If data processing is based on consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect (Art. 7(3) GDPR).

8. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). You may contact the supervisory authority of your place of residence or the authority responsible for us.

9. Users outside the EU/EEA

Snakkn is available worldwide. Regardless of where you live, we process your data as described in this policy and grant you the rights listed in section 7 accordingly: you can request access to, correction or deletion of your data at any time and delete your account directly in the app. Any additional rights under the laws of your country remain unaffected. California residents: We do not sell your personal information for money. Ads in the app are provided by Google AdMob (see section 4); showing personalized ads may qualify as "sharing" under California law. You can opt out at any time by not allowing tracking or limiting ad tracking in your device settings, or by contacting us at kontakt@huthfabrik.de.
